Lodge Improvements July 09

Last weekend, we were so excited that we got to make a trip to the lodge so that Dave could install the carpet and test Non-Toxic's new digital camera.

So here are some pictures with the new camera of how it all went:

Here's the carpet being rolled into
the lodge on top of the rolls of padding. It was very, very heavy!

And Look! Just like that it's in (ha!)
Dave also ended up putting down the flooring in front of the doors in addition to the pad and carpet.







After the pad, carpet and other flooring was put in, Dave fixed the upper kitchen cabinets and put some more doors on the bottom cabinets.






And now, with the carpet-it's a nice atmosphere to sit on a comfy couch in front of the fireplace sippin' some coffee or cocoa.







This is a close up the amazing coffee table that was commissioned for the lodge specifically. David G. Flood (not Dave) took this oak slab and created this table and then carved and painted
the center scene. It is just AMAZING!

Okay, now here is some evidence of how muddy it was up there at the lodge. They all started clean, but that's now how they ended up!! By the way, the mud is gray, so look closely at the arms.. everyone's are just caked with clay-not mud I guess. They tell me that there is definitely a difference.

This was some inside work that needed to be done on the new addition. The guys are helping Date put up a moisture barrier.

June Pool Tournament

Clayton, Jayson, Tim and Joseph. June's 8-ball tournament winners: Jayson took first, Clayton came in second, Tim at third and Joseph took fourth. It was a very good game.

I forgot how the bow and arrows were donated to Non-Toxic, but here are  the four boys testing them out.

They had just arrived from their 4+ hour trip. Tomorrow starts some really hard work. I'm not sure if they know how much there is to do, but they are awesome workers.

If anyone else is interested in earning some volunteer hours by helping out at the lodge, just let Dave know. Then YOU too can have meat for breakfast, meat for lunch and meat for supper!!

Pool Tournament Winners! Wait-is that a girl??!!

We have a girl in the top four!!! Ashley played in her first pool tournament-and it was her birthday too. Way to go Ashley.

Ashley wasn't the only girl in the tournament though-Sydnee has been brave enough for the last several months to compete in this mostly guys-only event. She sure has come a long way and we expect her to be taking home a trophy this year sometime. Yay for the girls!!!

The competition was a good one. It's always friend against friend, which I think has been good for turning these participants into players with excellent sportsmanship, being gracious both winning and losing. Jayson and Joseph are cousins and the last game went down to the only the 8-ball on table. It was a great game. Their friend Eric fought his way back into the top three from after losing a game (it's double elimination play) with consistent, confident play. Oh and Today is his birthday:

Monthly Pool Tournaments are held the first Saturday of each month at 7pm sharp!

It's all fun and games until . . .

David gets everyone involved in a game  per Raymond's request. He is an AFS student from Finland and playing these group games helps him get even quicker with the our language. However, I heard him speak and he seems to be quite fluent! Everyone there who braved the dangerously cold weather had a good time.

Grand Championship THIS Saturday!

This Saturday, January 17th is the Grand Championship 8-ball pool tournament.

Participants have to qualify by placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd in the monthly tournaments leading up to it.

Trophies will be awarded to the winner of the Grand Championship and also to the player with the

highest score going into the tournament.

Tournament starts at 7pm sharp so make sure you're there early enough to get you name in the hat!

Grand Championship 8-ball Tournament

Due to December being so packed with events, the 2008 Grand Championship 8-ball tournament will be held Saturday, January 17th at 7pm.

This is a tournament for all of those who made it into the top 3 at the monthly tournaments held throughout the year.

We look forward to seeing everyone there!
